Everything Cakes and More

I have a serious addiction to cakes and everything that comes with them! I have been baking and decorating cakes for almost 12 years now for all kinds of occassions! I like to make all kinds of confections with baking and candy making that I will post here too. I mostly create for family and friends but if you have someone or are someone who likes what you see and would like a specialty cake, I would be glad to help! I also do lots of cakes for friends of a friend too. Please have a look around and I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I do!

Nov. 18th 2011-This cake was for one of my old young women who got married last week. I turned out beautiful and the cake tasted wonderful too! She had silk flowers to go on it but they were too big so I made these sugar flowers and used them instead. I don't know if she loved them as much as I did but I thought they turned out beautifully!

Nov. 11, 2011- I made these cute little guys for a House Party I hosted. We worked on Christmas cards and ate yummy snacks including these cake pop reindeer.

Sept. 28, 2011-This cake was made for my nephews 1st birthday!

Two Cakes at once!

These super cute cakes are for a couple of brothers, not twins, but that have the same birthday. The trains are for the older brother and the dots for the younger who is celebrating his first birthday today! Even though I think fondant doesn't taste very good, it sure is cute and so fun to work with! Sorry, the train pics kind of turned out dark. Hope you can still see all that cuteness!

40th Anniversary Cake

This cake was a lot of fun as it had variety on the inside. The bottom layer is lemon cake and lemon curd filling and the top is spice cake with cream cheese filling. It's all covered in buttercream frosting and flowers. You may say that the colors kinda look 70's-ish and you would be right! This is a mini recreation of a wedding cake from 1971.This cake is for one of our neighbors who are celebrating thier 40th wedding anniversary. What a great acomplishment!

Play Ball!

This cake was for a neighbors sons birthday party. He is a big baseball nut and they like the Phillies so the two ideas were combined to make this adorable giant baseball cake!

Giant Gummy Bear

A lady in my ward asked for a gummy bear cake for her daughters baby shower. There is a story behind the gummy bears that is a family joke, but I also think she just really likes gummy bears! I tried to make a giant gummy bear with a honey jar as a mold but forgot to grease it so it stuck to the jar! Oops! The modeling chocolate bear is plan B. I still think it turned out cute, and I love the sprinkles!

Phil is 50!

One of my friends invited us to her husbands 50th birthday party. It was a surprise party but she wasn't going to make him a cake because he is diabetic and can't eat it. I balked at that because you can't have a birthday without a cake! So I volunteered to make him a sugar free cake. And of course there were cake balls for all as they are one of her favorites!

Race Track 8 Cake

For my nephews 8th birthday he wanted a Hot Wheels cake of some sort. His mom called and just said that cupcakes wouldn't cut it and she couldn't do anything more than that. I pretty much could do what I wanted but had to incorporate a car somehow. I really like the track in the shape of an eight.

Grandma's Fast Cake

It was my mom's birthday and I was working on cake pops for my friends baby shower (which I regrettably forgot to get a picture of) and my dad called. We were meeting for lunch and he wanted to know if I could bring a cake. I think this was the fastest cake I have ever put together! I immortality mixed it up and got it in the oven. Then let it cool while I ran to the store for powdered sugar and balloons(for the shower). Then I came home, mixed up the frosting, leveled, frosted and decorated it in about 25 minutes. How's that for fast!

Rainbow Cake

For my daughters 7th birthday we were looking online for cake ideas and we came across this cake called a rainbow cake. I was immediately intrigued by it and said to myself, "how do you do that?" I had to know. By the wonders of the world wide web we found out exactly how to create this colorful cake. She wanted to put the rainbow on the cake as well with the giant gummy butterflies, but the best part about this cake is when you cut into it!

Princess Book Club

For my May book club meeting, my friend chose a princess book, so we had a princess themed meeting. Complete with a tiara topped chocolate cake and crown cake pops! This crown was my first attempt with homemade gum paste and though it didn't turn out as pretty as I would have liked, I did learn a lot about how to use it and next time it will look perfect!

Penguin Cake

My neighbor was making a cake for her sons birthday party. They were going to the aquarium and he wanted penguins on the cake. She got the cake assembled but was stumped with the penguins. She called me for help. So, I made these cute little guys out of fondant and a couple dozen cake pops to go with it. She was glad for the penguins and said the cake was pretty much "theme" less without them.

Car's Cake

This was a fun cake I did for my son's 5th birthday. Back then Car's was fairly new and we were watching it several times a day. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday cake he wanted to draw a picture for me. He drew a race track with the cars on it and an entire stadium! I explained that the cake would be way too big in the scale he had drawn it, but we could just take a chunk out of it. His favorite part of the movie is the photo finish at the beginning so we took that chunk of the track and recreated it. It is complete with Car's cars he could keep, the finish line, and asphalt rocks on the track!

Candy Train

This cake was for my nephews birthday. He really liked trains and what kid doesn't like candy!

Little Einstein's

This cake was for my neighbors son's birthday. He was big into Little Einstein's and pirates so I mixed the best of both worlds.

Lace Wedding Cake

This cake was done for a clients wedding. It turned out beautifully. I loved the addition of the deep purple colored lace pattern. Very elegant and feminine.

Cupcake Cake

Who says you can't have cake AND cupcakes for your birthday! This cake was made for my neighbors daughter for her 30th birthday.

Barbie Cake

This cake was for my daughters 3rd birthday. She was and always will be into the princesses and girly things in life!

Bridal Shower cake and cake pops

May 17, 2011- I made these for a friend's sister-in-law's bridal shower. They were doing the Time theme where everyone brings a gift according to a different time of the day. So, they wanted a clock cake to represent the theme and then some cake pops to represent the wedding side. The bride pops were chocolate cake, the groom pops were white cake, and the clock was a marble mix of both! How's that for symbolism? A successful marriage takes just the right combination of a bride and a groom, plus a whole lot of time to blend!

You're A Star

May 14, 2011- This cake was made for my daughters first piano recital. It is a delish marble cake with buttercream frosting with a fondant red carpet and royal icing stars with all the students names on them! Oh, and chocolate popcorn bags!
